Tom ~ was born and raised in an ethnically diverse neighborhood in southwest Philadelphia. He was drawn to the power of rock music at an early age and quickly became a heavy metal devotee. He began his musical life as a drummer, learning by playing along with Motley Crue and Van Halen records.
At the age of 17 he wanted another challenge and traded his drum kit for an electric bass. Within six months of beginning lessons, he was in his first band as a bassist. It would go on to become area metal favorites Violent Solution.
Upon their split, Tom once again wanted to expand his musical horizons and explore music beyond metal. When friends turned him on to the funky, mixed up styles of Fishbone, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Funkadelic, Tom began to explore all things funky.
Tom has brought his unique mix of Iron Maiden attack and Bootsy Collins groove to session work and many area groups including: Citizen Kane, Stephanie’s Religion, Dog Will Hunt and Durango 95. He even returned to drumming for a time with the band Midnight Bottle Club. His years of diverse experience have certainly helped prepare him for Beatnik Brown.
